This week has been a funny kind of week. I had my meeting about my teaching evaluation and got some really great feedback and praise, I got yelled at by a colleague yesterday for no apparent reason and ended up locking myself in the store room and having a good old cry... and I said good bye to my first born son who has, if not flown the nest at least, tested his wings.
Yes, after an up and down week at work, last night we went out to dinner as a family to celebrate Oscar. He's already left for the airport on the way to the US as I type...he's there for 2 weeks, back for 5 days and then on his way to Australia with a one way ticket.

[...In time to watch Doctor who. Ella and I have plans to watch the live showing of the 50th anniversary at 3:50 am on Sunday morning]
Anyway, I was holding it all together quite well until Oscar actually left. You spend nigh on 20 years raising a child and it is a bit of a wrench when they go...as excited as I am for him.
But lets not forget the other 3...within half an hour of Oscar leaving Remi calls down that he got his
SAT results for the test he took (extra and by choice on top of all the IB diploma stuff he has happening right now) a few weekends ago and he got an amazing score (2030) putting him in the 90+ percentile. There may have been a half naked happy dance (I was getting ready for bed, but we HAD to happy dance).
*Ella and I also are fortunate enough to be involved with an AMAZING community arts project (organised by 2 of my wonderfully fantabulous colleagues)...me as a teacher, her as a student. We are painting a massive wall on Thursday after school (co curricula) for 2 hours in a local community centre. I cannot tell you how happy it made me priming a wall today (even though they used oil based paint mixed with turps and we had to wear masks for the smell that made us sweat like crazy).
Tomorrow morning I have breakfast with one of our dear friends from the states and one half of her twins who are here for a short visit for her dad's birthday.
On Saturday Oscar will be in our Vermont house and there is snow forecast.
Swings and roundabouts..........
Well quite wonderful. Does that mean that possibly Oscar and his grandpa could be studying at UTas art school at the same time?
