Shadows, sun and swedish.

Well, we have had the most wonderful memorial day weekend up here in VT. I drove up with Kit and Ella on Friday night in the jeep we are borrowing from friends. Unfortunately, even though I picked them up straight from school it was a devil of a drive up here - 5 hours instead of our usual 3 1/2.

But I got to work nice and early on Saturday, sanding, priming, painting. During the day we caught up with our neighbours, had 2 different lots of friends just drop in, and the kids took themselves across the road for a dip in the river.

In the afternoon, I managed to catch this wonderful shadow coming through the window onto my newly painted wall. Gorgeous.

And the room finished (mostly). I got the most gorgeous (cheap) curtains from IKEA which look like they are linen and much more expensive than they actually were and they really make a huge difference.

I'm so happy with how this room is looking.

Saturday night we went around to Henrik and Estelle's house (the ones who have the twins) for a birthday dinner for Henrik with our other friends. Sunday afternoon we went around to different Emma and Leighton's (who are loaning us the jeep) for a pool party and BBQ with the two lots of friends that we'd been with the night before.

I love our little community we have up here.

Today I decided to clear out Ella's room to work out what is staying and going, and was going to move the bed back in there, but realised that it was the perfect opportunity to paint the floor as we won't be up again for a few weeks which will give it a chnace to cure. I was trying to get away with not doing it, but it really needed it, and looks so much better. I also made the decision that if I was doing that, we were going to stay up another day.

I'm so glad I did. The kids have spent the day hanging out with Hayley, our neighbours' 23 year old daughter who we all love who is up for the weekend from Brooklyn. Kit and Ella have just gone off to the movies with the family. Oh, I will miss this little house of ours and all the wonderful friends that go along it.

And I have to share this fantastic little rug that I also got at IKEA which is SO perfect for this room.

Now, if only I had time to attack the garden....
