Going home again today. I always find it hard after being up here for an extended time. Ella too. She was moaning last night about having to go back to life, back to reality. I think, like me, she really enjoys the chilled our atmosphere we enjoy up here. Reading, crafting, walking Honey. I've moved most of her toys up here, and I often find her sitting in the sun of her bay window, or on her bed playing with Lego or play mobile - something she never really gets the chance to do at home any more. Particularly hard to leave when we look out at more lovely snow falling, and knowing that it's all melted down south and we're into rain. And state testing starts....SIGH.
The other thing we don't get to do at home is plumbing. Ella and I spent HOURS yesterday fixing leaking taps in the kitchen. Fortunately Ella is still small and limber enough to fit under the big sink, behind the insinkerator, and right up the back of under the kitchen island. UN fortunately she's not really strong enough to use the wrench - she dropped it on her head a few times. We did manage to fix the leak, change the washer and tighten the tap which was spinning around. Although we somehow over tightened it and now it's facing the wrong way, but we can't loosen it. At least it works and doesn't drip! And Ella loved it!
Right, just about to make my last batch of aebleskiver. This is probably the last weekend that we'll all be up here for a while...the rugby season has started and Matt and the boys will be staying down for training.

ReplyDeleteShades of Charles Dickens! Glad to hear Ella enjoys it, despite the wrench on the head. I'm totally into escapism too this summer - must be a family trait. love from mum xx
ReplyDeleteIs Vermont sort of like Bellerive without being on an island?
