I am learning the hard way that nothing goes to plan with doing up a house. This weekend we took down the wall paper in Ella's room to discover totally ruined plaster board underneath- that will need to be skim coated in plaster in order to be able to paint it. We also have to have 1 1/2 walls replastered downstairs in the yellow room as the plaster is falling off the wall. Our contracter said we can either put plaster board over the top of it (which I don't like as you loose your skirting boards- plenty of other rooms in the house have it), or rip it out and do it again. He said if we ripped out the plaster ourselves (and you know how much we enjoyed that job the first time) it would cost about the same- so we're going for that option. Unfortunately it should have been done BEFORE we had the ceiling put in.
I also almost finished this bathroom on the weekend. Remember this?
Look at that wallpaper. All teamed with bronze painted trim and ceiling. It was SOOO dark in there. Oscar started on this bathroom 3 weekends ago- stripping the wallpaper, removing the trim, covering up the holes in the walls, sanding, and priming. And now it looks like this:
A bit different- I should have taken a photo of the sink and mirror to see the difference- they are the same. I still have to get some new trim for the ceiling. The stuff they used was so clunky and didn't even fit properly- big gaps everywhere! But we need it as Oscar wasn't able to get all the wallpaper off, and we need to cover that up. But it's lovely and light and bright in there now.
And my cushions:
I recovered the seat cushions on this couch. I'm desperate to rip off that ruffle, but I think I'll just keep searching for a sofa cover in a neutral colour.
This week I have another chair to upholster and more sewing of cushions and curtains. And it looks like a good day for it- Kit just opened the door to walk up to the bus and shouted, "Mum! It's snowing!" Yup. First CT snow. But only light snow, and it will turn to rain soon enough.
good to see you are still enjoying it, and it must be wonderful having kids so pleased to assist with all the yucky jobs, as opposed to merely painting cats on doors...so to speak.

Terrific! It all looks lighter, more modern - way to go. Glad to hear Oscar's still working hard. Just on the computer a short time at Bishwa's, as I have moved into my unit and have been without phone and internet for a week now, waiting for the transfer over. lots of love and hope everyone is okay. mum xxx
