Check it out

Need a bit of a visual feast? Check this out.

A busy weekend, with our big school fair today. I chaperoned the middle schoolers turn last night. They all go a bit silly on all the rides. Today I'm on the doughnut decorating and face painting stalls. Always fun.

Tomorrow is mother's day (Happy Mother's day Mum and a big kiss for Nan- I think it's the same in Australia), but I never get too excited. Ella will make a fuss- she always does. I'm hoping I'll have some time to get out in my garden and dig it all over to plant some tomatoes and basil. My neighbour has the most elaborate vegetable garden and he puts so much work into it. I've been watching him out there for the last 2 weeks preparing his patch. Every year they have a bumper crop of all kinds of vegetables. I'll admit to garden envy, but if I'm honest with myself, I like the IDEA of gardening, but there's just too many other things I like to do with my time. I always manage a little herb garden, but the real vegetables I tend to just leave to their own devices. I'm still waiting for Matt to inherit that gene from his parents who are EPIC gardeners...

  1. Happy Mother's Day Georgia. I just took my mum to morning tea at the Sorell Fruit Farm and had the most fabulous light savoury scones and got the recipe. So to all you mums out there try these:

    4 cups self raising flour
    1/3 cup castor sugar
    250 mls water
    300 mls cream

Mix everything with a knife then knead dough very lightly and briefly by hand. Don't handle too much. (For savoury add some grated carrot & onion and some parmesan cheese)
Bake in hot oven at 200 c.

I hope this translates to US measurements. They were great with slices of cheese & tomato relish. Happy Mothers Day!!

    Mum xxxx

  2. RE Scone recipe: Obviously for savoury don't add the castor sugar. My brother had the jam and cream version & the chef wrote that one out.

    cheers mum
