Winter Solstice

Kit and I had big plans to have a solstice celebration tonight. But he's busy. Puking his guts up everywhere BUT the toilet. Poor love. So, to celebrate the shortest day and the longest night; the beginning of winter I will leave you with some photos of a candle in the snow...
For my friends and family at the other side of the world, happy summer solstice!

So glad you told us it was snow - for an awful moment I thought it was Kit's guts...
Thanks you for reminding me about the solstice. We happened to put our new (courtesy of Kris Kringle) solar-powered dragonfly in the garden on Monday, ie the longest day for us, and it charged up beautifully. It does turn some rather overdramatic colours by night, but also has moments of pure beauty.
And today at work, Betty asked me if it was snowing in CT, so I proudly showed her all your beautiful early morning snow photos. I think we enjoyed them as much as Honey.

  3. And another summer solstice comment from me- I was out gardening until after 9.30pm last night, just as the light was starting to dim. I love the time of year here but being woken up by cats who want to go out for morning at 4.45am is a bit too much. I love seeing the contrast of the snow over there - very Christmasy. mumxxx
