Yes, really, more. More mushrooms that is.
These I made over 2x 3hour sessions at the pottery studio. They are purely decorative- little tiles to hang on the wall. The black one is the biggest (7 1/2x 7 1/2 inches*), and from the moment I started it, I pictured it with a black background.
I also made these little ones to hang together in a group. The bigger two are roughly 4 1/2 " square and the smaller 2 1/2 " square.
They have little hangers on the back, but as ALWAYS with clay, they far exceeded my shrinkage expectations and I had to put a little wire on them to be able to hang them. All the designs came out of my head. I guess I'd been doing so much mushroom painting recently (see my etsy shop), that I was able to kind of mix and match elements to make them look mushroomy enough.
I think these two are my favourite.
As usual for me, I totally winged it with the glazing. I really probably couldn't even name the glazes I used...some underglazing, but some glazes I was totally experimenting with. And while I love working this way, I do realise that it is very hit and miss. I have no idea, for example, what created that lovely variation in colours on the stalk of the red mushroom above. I guess one day I will have to start taking notes.
I think I'll hang them on the wall in the kitchen-but first that means I'll need to paint the wall in the kitchen as it is covered in sample paint patches at the moment...hmm they might have to go away until school goes back.

*When I grabbed the ruler to measure the size of these I ended up with ink all over my hands from a leaking pen in the cup that held the ruler. Once again HAIRSPRAY came to the rescue-totally dissolves ink- a tip for those who missed my pen in the tumble dryer fiasco of a few years ago. BUT I also discovered that dissolved ink is such a pretty colour. So after throwing a couple of wads of ink covered paper towel in the bin I decided to quickly do some ink blots (I was in the middle of a blog post after all)...and ended up with more ink on my hands than I had to start with. Typical!
