The other day we were in Target and the boys pounced on this heavily reduced skim board run. I realised immediately the dangers of it, but also that kids need to have fun and be daring and try something new.
And fun they had...
And plenty of spills, although the worst injury so far was Kit getting stung by a bee on the run up.
Remi is really good at it; even when he falls, he falls well.
And he loves it when he gets all the way to the end.
Ella's much more cautious and goes teeny distances on her knees.
Honey just thinks it's a big water bowl.
Last night Kit had the most badly organised birthday party. MONTHS ago I made all kinds of suggestions (it's hard to track people down for the summer, so you have to start early), all of which he said no to. Then a week ago he started saying he wanted to do my original suggestion. Of course it was too late by then and so we had this back and forth argument for days until he got fed up with me and went and called up 4 people and invited them out to dinner. Only 2 came, but it was fun none the less. Matt and I took them out while the others stayed home. After dinner we came home and the kids all played in the skim pool for a while, then played a bit of rock band and then I took them home. One of them commented that it was a really fun birthday! I guess it helps having cool older brothers.
That is sure a fancy way to waterslide...we used to do with the hose running on a sheet of black plastic...oh how the times are a changing...but still heaps of fun...yeah bring on the summer..
