Can't believe my first born will be 15 this week-but then again, he's been 50 since he was born. He asked me the other day if I will miss him when he goes away to college because we have such great discussions. It's so true. I miss him when he goes away for the weekend. He's just a great person.
The other 2 boys have taken it upon themselves to fight and be silly as much as possible while Matt's in hospital, but I think for Kit, at least, it's how he deals with stuff. And I am trying my best to be as patient as possible, although I am still suffering sinus problems from being sick last week.
Oh and I picked up my art from the art show yesterday. I went in to have a look last week, and I have a feeling that I'm totally barking up the wrong tree trying to get my art recognised here. It's all landscapes and seascapes and pets. Some of it is very skilled, but for the most part BORING!!! Nothing is new, nothing interesting. And somehow, the way they'd hung the work (on wire frames) made it look terrible. As soon as I got it home and put it against a white wall it looked better. And (just to bitch a little more) the first prize winner for the mixed media category was just terrible- a couple of stamps stuck to a cream background. I'm not saying I should of won it-there was some really interesting and better mixed media work. It just made me realise that this was probably all a waste of time. I think there were two pieces that I saw that I thought "oh they're cool-I'd have them on my wall". But the prices people put on their work!! Oh my.
Anyway, I'm having fun sewing at the moment-finished Oscar's quilt this weekend. I'll photograph it at some stage, but it's not that interesting. And I have a couple in the works-one for Remi and one for Matt and I.
Oh and I will leave you with a list of lovely new design blogs I have found. One of my favourite things to do is read house magazines and look at gorgeous interiors. Unfortunately I haven't found a good house magazine for years, fortunately there is the world of blog land:
And while these all seem to have this white on white kind of design thing going on that is so not me (think dark woods, reds and golds) I still LOVE to look at them. Happy browsing!
Me thinks it's time for you to set up an esty store. People seem to shop like crazy for interesting art on there. Never give up - even you know you're good! Wendy xx
