A hit of summer

We have just had the most GLORIOUS weekend.  I'm not going to complain about rainy weeks anymore if our weekends can be like that.

Saturday morning started off cool (5 C) and foggy-I wasn't even sure we were going to get any warm weather.  This is taken looking out over the pond-you can't even see the beach at the other side, let alone long island like we usually can...
And this isn't a smudge on the lens...just low level cloud/fog.
But between running Kit and Ella to extra martial arts training, dropping Oscar and Matt to rugby training, picking up Kit and Ella and then collecting Matt and Oscar again so that Matt could take Remi to his soccer game, it did heat up.  And it was lovely...

Ella decided she was going to camp out...she made herself a tent, took all her things out and said she was going to sleep out there...

And while I was taking photos of her in her tent, I had to try and get the grass scattered with all the lovely violets-isn't that pretty?
Honey has this thing, when she sees fabric blowing in the wind she runs 'round and 'round in circles going CRAZY-or spaka dogs as we call it.
We got one of the old sheet things that Ella was using and were using it like bull fighting-she LOVED it.
Oscar had fallen asleep in the sun when he got back from rugby training...and was sporting a nice little sunburn on his stomach...can you spot it?
We all played, and gardened well into the afternoon ... and had a BBQ, of course.
We stayed out well after dark...
And while Ella didn't get her wish of sleeping in her home made tent, she did get to sleep out in this tent (with Matt).  Inside we slept with the windows open (and the incessantly honking geese nearly drove me mad)
And today, more of the same, except hotter.  We sat out for breakfast, we spent the day just hanging out in the yard.  34C!!!!  And all the trees that were bare last week have burst forth with leaves and blossoms.

It was so hot that Kit, Ella and Oscar (and Honey) went for a paddle in the pond in their crocs.  Kit even went under (we'll see if he gets sick this week!)  Glorious, glorious weather which is supposed to stick around for the next few days...

hope your weekend was just as lovely.

Did better than usual Honey, a couple of photos at least..and looks like good fun, Dad doesn't play those sort of games with us, must be good having a gang, is that lacrosse? why doesn't your gang play lacrosse? Dad reckons lacrosse is tough.
But it has been raining here so the walks have been ordinary. Dad seems to like the rain.

    love
