Matt's gone off to New Jersey tonight with Oscar and Remi to go and see Metallica in concert. Matt has had tickets booked for himself and Oscar (and 2 guys from work) for MONTHS. Remi got an extra ticket that came up 2 days ago. Good luck to them. As for Kit and Ella and I, maybe we'll just have cereal for dinner. And this officially marks the end of Matt's month long vegetarianism (well fishachickatarianism). This was Matt's new year's resolution. To do this for one month. It has meant that I really have to think about what to cook every night and have had to experiment with new things, but it's been great. I'm in no hurry to go back to red meat, but the kids have been having meat dreams and I think with the super bowl tomorrow Matt will be cooking something meaty for him and the kids.
And because I've posted 3 times now with no photos, I'll leave you with 2 flickr groups with photos from the internation quilt festival in Tokyo. Some of these really inspire me. And having finished tidying and sorting (and rediscovering) my attic "studio" over the last week and a half (yes, it took that long), I'm all inspired to start something and make a mess all over again. I have so many ideas after playing with all my things (while tidying up of course-so that's where the kids get it from).
But I can't start anything for a while at least. Matt and I are off to Las Vegas on Thursday. He's got a conference there the following week and so we're going a few days earlier and I'm flying home on my own on Sunday. It's my birthday this week, and his too, so it will be a nice little celebration for the two of us. Not that Vegas was top of my list of places to visit, but I'm hoping we can get out the Grand Canyon on one of those days. It would be great to do a helicopter tour out there (depends on the price). Kit and Ella are staying with my friend here and Oscar and Remi are going up to Vermont with our good friends for a weekend of skiing. Then we have a week back here (Matt comes back on the Wednesday) and then we're off to VT for a few days as the kids have the February break. I MAY bite the bullet and try to ski again when we go...we'll see. Still suffering from my tail bone, so I'm in no hurry to put myself in a position to cause more pain. So lots going on and little time for playing in the attic.
Have a good weekend.
Thanks for the quilt show, George. Beautiful, and seemed very different from last year's. Loved the 'river gums' in the snow best - amazing detail. Couple of quilts have given me ideas for mending the couch cushions - currently the quilt you sent me covers them... One quilt also reminded me of a lovey little 'candle-holder' patchwork that Liz made me and brought over when she visited.

Las Vegas! Well at least enjoy the Grand Canyon, possibly consider the signage as an important town planning experiment, given there have been books written about it as that...truly, enjoy your birthdays etc
