February

February is always a good month. With Matt and my birthdays and our wedding anniversary, we always have a good time. And I have to say it has really started with a gorgeous day.
I heard Ella exclaim to Kit before, "Kit! Come outside, it's so warm." And at 2C, it is. I sat out on the veranda and had my coffee this morning. A little hit of sunshine is so lovely.
The ducks, geese and swans are happily swimming in little channels of water in amongst the ice. And Leila (the cat who loves to go outside) is happy that she can walk on paths and not snow. Not so for Lilly who refuses to go outside at all. She'd much rather curl up somewhere warm and has been known to eye the dying fire with much interest. And some sunshine was perfect for taking some photos of this little jewellery box I made. This was the piece that I broke when it was bone dry. I bumped the corner of the lid and it broke clean off. I had left it with my teacher to throw out as she didn't think it could be fixed, but the next time I came to pottery she had fixed it and bisqued fired it for me. Good old paper clay! I had to be oh so careful when glazing it, but I'm so happy that I it didn't get binned. And you can't even see the crack...Oh and do you like our garden ice sculpture?Kit found this thing "dripping" out of a pipe somewhere. We had some fun with some photos, but now it's right outside the front door. It will be interesting to see how much it melts today if we reach the lofty heights of 6C that's forecast. But hopefully the snow that's forecast for Tuesday will come...
And my blanket is right at home and was perfect to cuddle up under last night while I was at home alone. The concert ROCKED by all accounts, although as they didn't get to bed until 3am I think it's going to be a slow day around here...it's nearly 11 and we haven't even seen Oscar yet.

Happy birthday Snork, our Hotkey email has had a power failure, possibly due to this weeks continuing heat, so I can't send you a standard email...but will when we are back on line properly

Happy Birthdays George and Matt (and little Sarah Mel if she's looking in). As Steve said, our email account has been unavailable for a few days, so here's another way - even if you may not be thinking of blogs as I write...

ps really envy Kit and Ella with the ice crown - just had our 12th day of temperatures over 40 degrees C. Tomorrow forecast for 46 degrees, but a cool 33 on Sunday. And our email service is still out.
