Wow, it's been a whole week since I've stopped by. I don't really know where it's all gone. The kids have been home on spring break, and we've been out and about a bit doing things. I've been planting full sized plants in the garden so the gardeners won't weed out things I grow from seeds like last year and sewing seeds to raise indoors so I can put them into the garden as plants. Unfortunately Honey has decided that she likes to rip apart, eat and generally destroy my seedlings, and their peat pots. She is NOT my favourite "person" at the moment.
But as I was happily sewing my seeds yesterday, I realised that most of what I have chosen I have chosen for the memories of people and places that they give me: cornflowers for my grandfather, Stan, and because I wore them in my hair when I got married; forget me nots for the house I grew up in where they grew everywhere; sweetpeas, which were one of my grandmother Mel's favourite and she would grow them outside her front door; and alyssum which grew everywhere in the garden in one of the first houses I lived in. I can't wait until my little seeds (what's left of them) start to pop up. I may have to find a way to dog proof them first.
I think I'll have to get stuck into the veggie garden this week.
I've also been waiting this week for the late arrival of my little niece, Rowan, who finally came yesterday only 5 days late. I can't wait to see more photos.
Here she is with my mother in law.
And the kids this week got a very late Christmas present of a Wii. Remi paid for half of it, and the other half was from money my grandmother sent them for Christmas. We couldn't get one back then and this week seemed like a good time to do it. It has been fun...the kids playing TOGETHER and even all of us having family Wii sports time in the evening. Of course with the gorgeous spring weather Wii time has to be limited.
So that's been my week. Hope you all had a good one too.
Good to see you remember those things about Mum and Dad...I certainly wouldn't have.
ReplyDeleteI also loved the bit about the seeds. The baby looks beautiful and grandma very happy. Pardon my ignorance but what on earth is a Wii? Firstly I though you meant some kind of electronic gear, but then, all the kids using it at once and 'sports'?? At a total loss, I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness, Oki. I thought I was the only one who had no idea what a Wii is.
