Our first winter in New York was marked by our favourite weather man telling us that it was going to be "wet not white" and while this winter started off with a nice whiteness to it, the once again mild January weather has meant wet wet wet. The ground is so muddy. But I was suprised to be woken this morning by the sound of thunder cracking overhead. So more rain is washing all that muddy soil all over the roads. Lovely.
And what have I been doing the last few days? Catching up on housework of course. Don't you wish that when you were sick the housework fairies would come so that when you got better you didn't have to slave away for days to catch up. What's that? There are no housework fairies....I'm sure the rest of my family thinks there are. And what is more depressing after cleaning all the floors the night before? Having a muddy wet day and a muddy wet puppy...I'll let you imagine the rest.
I'm actually just going to go round to my friend's house to do a few loads of washing (oh yes, still waiting for THAT to be sorted out) as we are escaping up to VT today for the weekend and I must wash so I can pack. Matt went down to South Carolina for work yesterday (and called me to say he had lunch on the beach and saw dolphins! ) and doesn't get back until tonight, so I need to get the car packed up and ready to go after Kit and Ella's Gym lesson (which means we won't be on the road until 6.30 pm). Oh and it's my turn to take cub scouts this afternoon. We are supposed to be doing some bird watching around here, but I'm not sure how successful it will be in the rain and thunder and lightning! A busy wet day awaits.
have a great weekend.
Rain, a strange word, only 34 today but the swim wasn't too bad, a bit nippy but OK but Dad reckons it is only going to be 29 tomorrow and my big sister hasn't knitted me a jumper or anything. Dad made muffins in his new muffin making things this arvo to keep warm and Grim said they were fabulous , we weren't allowed to have any and when Dad took us for our night walk he didn't even take a ball so no swimming and there was hardly any ice in the water at all.

Sorry to hear that your trip to Vermont was cancelled but it sounds like you'll have a nice day with Ella though.
ReplyDeleteCAn't believe that you have so much mud too - that's my biggest complaint about living out here in the sticks.
