A cold snap

The weather has turned very chilly lately. I love it. Except at 4 am this morning when I had to get up to take Honey out to the loo. She was spayed on Tuesday and she's had the runs ever since. When I heard her whining this morning I knew she was desperate and I took her out in bare feet and a pjs in -2 deg C. And of course she didn't go straight away. By the time I got back to bed my feet were burning from the cold.

So I was very keen today to finish my Tam O Shanter that I started on Monday. I bought this ball of Noro last year and I've been dying to use it. I started this hat and couldn't find a pattern I liked, so combined and simplified a few. It was very simple actually, but I had to make it and remake it 3 times to get it to the right amount of floppiness. I was worried about running out of wool, which I did, hence the dark brown centre. But I love it and it was one of the nicest balls of wool I've ever knitted with (Angora, silk and wool).

I spent ages trying to take a photo of it on me in the hall mirror. This was the best of the bunch. I love that I can wear it to the side, or back. And it's so cosy.

I finished it just in time to go off to have lunch with my new Aussie friend I met at the supermarket. I've really only spoken to her a few times, but we just really click and I feel like I've known her forever...helps that we have Singapore and Norway in common too. But while I was there I got the dreaded call from school to come and get Remi as he'd twisted his ankle playing soccer in sport.

I don't think it's very bad, but he can't walk on it. I'll give him tomorrow off and then we have a [wonderful] long weekend, so I'll see how he goes. We're just R.I.C.E ing it a lot right now. He and I will have a nice snuggly day tomorrow...hopefully poor little Honey will start to feel better too.
