I don't quite know where the long weekend went. We couldn't really do much as Remi couldn't walk properly until yesterday and Ella came down with a stomach bug and spent most of Sunday and Monday groaning on the couch and vomitting. It was also cold, so it was kind of nice to lock ourselves away. We watched lots of movies including The secret garden (love this movie...but I always have to pause it to look at Mary's knitted hat that she wears out in the garden-the inspiration for my Tam) and Ratatouille.
I also worked heaps on this quilt which is being made as a thank you and farewell for Ella's student teacher. Ella's teacher really wanted to give her a quilt and wanted the kids to decorate a panel each. I offered to sew it all up, thinking they would be small squares, but they are A4 sized rectangles...made it difficult to find some kind of dimension that worked. I bought the coloured pieces of fabric on sale, and I think it works better than having all the drawings next to each other.
I've done the bottom half, but I'm waiting on 3 extra pieces (as there were kids out sick) in order to finish it. I used all sorts of scraps of fabric pieced together on the back...it's bright and colourful at least, but hardly contrived and thought out. I hope she likes it anyway.
I have Ella home with me today. Thankfully the vomitting has stopped and she's actually been able to eat something today. I'm so glad we've got another short week! Hopefully I can get the quilt finished asap as I have so much cleaning to do before we have our big Thanksgiving lunch in 2 weeks.
But where is the important stuff...what has Honey been doing?

Oh, what a beautiful gesture for this very lucky student teacher. It's gorgeous. Tell my grandchildren do all do some drawings on bits of material so I can have one too!
