Kit had to sell popcorn for his cub scout den yesterday morning outside the supermarket. He loved it. We had the first shift, and it was only for an hour, although I think Kit would have been happy to stay there all day. Right up his alley.
I came home all inspired and made apple pie (with the lovely apples that Remi brought back from his outing with his friend to a farm)...the apples from our tree have mostly gone. The hot weather wasn't so good for them. Then I made "candied apples" or 'toffee apples" as we know them. They just look so GORGEOUS with their shiny redness.
The kids can ruin their teeth on these later today.
And here's a photo to see how much silt and garbage got washed into the pond the other night; it looks like the surface of the moon. We're not even sure what that huge piece of metal is-it looks like the side of an airplane. Apparently it was record breaking amounts of rain, and we got off lightly. Someone I know got 4 feet of water in their basement!!!
We're just happy to have the lovely autumn days finally. Kit has to carve a pumpkin today for scouts, and I'm going to plant the last of my bulbs. We have a busy week ahead, with Oscar going off to Boston for 3 days for a school trip, and then we're up to VT for the weekend. So a nice day at home will be really enjoyed.
Will the Subaru be ready for VT?
ReplyDeleteand don't worry... only six months and it will be spring again.
But feel free to post of us some of that water...four feet of water would be rather a good start.
