Oh the rain we've had today!

After the heat on the weekend, it got colder this week, then yesterday it drizzled all day. Because I'm in the hire car and not really sure how to turn on all the lights and wipers I didn't go out yesterday, but I braved it for a while today. Lucky I went early, 'cause by the time the kids came home from school it was bucketing down. Matt couldn't get home from work as there were no taxis and flooded roads everywhere. I had to go to a school thing with Oscar, so eventually Matt got the bus to the station and came one stop. I had to drive through enormous puddles with walls of water up either side of the car and wipers on as fast as they go to pick him up, drop him home and then get Oscar and drive back up to school. All a little hairy for me. And after the meeting we came home to find that there's just over 1/2 foot of water in the basement...which will mean no washing machine and dryer for a while, and piles and piles of now wet dirty washing which was sitting on the basement floor. Oh JOY! So I'm going to bed early so I have the strength to deal with it tomorrow.
