I'm not quite sure what dimension I slipped into this week (maybe the crochet dimension), but I suddenly realised that it was Thursday and I hadn't blogged for a week.
The trip to VT was as lovely as usual although the drive up in the rain was rather hideous. We didn't arrive until nearly 1 am. My friend Nicola whose house it was kept saying to me "you can do whatever you want to; you're at your Aunties". And it was like that. Very low key weekend. Honey had to try to get along with Hippo who is an older not very social dog, and by the end of the weekend they were nearly friends. The boys played way too much play station (the only time they get to) and the big boys watched a bit of Rugby, but for me, the most fun was just watching Honey love it up there. She walked around almost with a smile on her face the whole time. She sniffed and ran and looked at chickens and cows and met farm dogs and just LOVED it. Unfortunately the hot tub was broken, so we didn't get our soak, but it was just nice being there.
I didn't take any photos apart from these two while Matt, Kit and Remi were looking in a fishing shop.
But as I was getting these off the camera, I found all these ones taken at last weeks Pack meeting for Kit. It was the pumpkin judging night. I'd let Kit do most of his (I was concerned about him cutting himself)...but a lot of these pumpkins had a lot of parental help. They were great:
I took photos for inspiration. Then the boys made skeletons out of cotton buds (cu tips) and wrapped their den leaders in toilet paper to make them mummies.
It was a fun night. Kit got his first badge (must remember to sew it on).
It was hot and crazy and loud and fun. Remi and Ella came along too. Ella is desperate to join brownies now...not sure if I can fit it into the schedule.
Talking of schedules, Kit's decided he wants to start ballet again. He's going to start next week as he got his cast off on Tuesday!!! All the other winter activities won't start until December, so it's good he can start this now. I have to admit I'm a little surprised as I thought he'd finished with it, but he was the one who asked to do it again. I'm please though as I love to watch him dance. He'll be the only boy in the class, but he doesn't mind.
And here's the progress with my crocheting. I lay them out almost randomly just to see how big it is...hmmm...still lots more of those little hexagons to go. As I lay them out they reminded me of snowflakes. So I'll be lugging around my big bag of wool for a bit longer to swimming and ballet and gym. I do have more being blocked at the moment...but still haven't made the 100 mark yet...I wonder how many it will take...maybe 300? I'll be at it a while. But I love putting all those colours together.
I love your hexagons Georgia. What a great way to use up scraps. Could you blog the pattern for this and your granny squares blanket? Like you I spend hours waiting to taxi my kids which I could utilise in a better way.
