A tidy house

I am a fanatic about having a tidy house when people come to stay...the rest of the time I can let it slide. And last night we had visitors from England. Yes, Simmy and her family on a tour de North East coast stopped through on their way further up to Mass and VT.

It was quite nerve racking in a way meeting someone for the first time (we had exchanged a few emails)-I don't know how people can do internet dating! But we all hit it off straight away. Matt and Tom had great time sitting outside chatting, then watching baseball. The boys all had lots of fun playing cricket and later going out nextdoor's kayaks and running around in the dark, and Ella loved having a big girl to talk to. Simmy and I just had a ball talking crafty stuff.

Her kids are all the same ages as my oldest 3 (13, 11 and 7), and it just amazed me how well the boys in particular hit it off. Remi and Rohan even have the same passions: cricketing and bird watching! And poor Raj was constantly getting the Kit squeeze and his arm around his neck. I think Oscar felt a bit intimidated by a girl his age taller than his mother, but we all thought Amber was an absolute delight.

When it was time for them to go this morning we all felt a bit dissapointed, so we're hoping to catch up next week when they come back through New York city. It was so lovely to make such nice new friends.

Remi and Rohan and all the boys

Kit and Raj...the cheeky twosome.

And Ella devouring her sherbert with the lovely Amber.

dear all, we had such a wonderful time with you - the company and the food were fantastic and as Georgia said everyone hit it off so well.

It was so nice chatting with you Georgia and I just loved all the things you've been making -and hiding from your bloggers - my dear.

Looking forward to seeing you in NYC.

BTW western Mass was lovely and Vermont is gorgeous but very hot.
