Beach

After Remi's ceremony Kit's grade went to the beach. I'd offered to go as a chaperon. So we walked down with the class (about 20 minutes). Other parents had organised to have pizza delivered, icy blocks, brownies etc etc...it was a feast. The kids weren't allowed to swim as the area where we were is right at the other end of our pond (you've seen photos from the other side at the cove) and the currents are very strong. But they had a great time digging in the sand, playing with balls on the grass, playing with cards, and even finger knitting. THAT has taken off and all of Kit's class were carrying their beach bags with the essentials...towel, sunscreen, beach shoes, yarn for finger knitting...It's so funny. One of the boys had a fingerknitted neckband that he was wearing. They all tell me all how much they've been doing, and I'm now introduced as the fingerknitting mum.
Here's Kit working hard on the project. Kids came in and out to help with this big sandcastle thing, but Kit was on it the whole time...like a site manager...telling everyone what needed to be done.

Check out the houses behind!

After about 2 1/2 hours at the beach, we walked back to school and then Kit was adamant that we should walk home too, instead of him catch the bus...needless to say we were all pretty tired when we got home. Ella has her beach party on Tuesday...

Sounds like a lot of fun and obviously the finger knitting has been a real hit!
