It's beginning to look a lot like...

I haven't made cards for a number of months now, and I'd forgotten how much I love it. I spent hours tidying and sorting the craft/music/computer room yesterday which due to it's many roles tends to get a little on the messy side. Actually it's all me...I love to have everything "on hand" (on the floor) for easy access and Matt has been complaining that he doesn't have anywhere to lock himself away to play guitar. We often have to watch TV with him playing guitar in the other downstairs lounge. That's the problem with having everything open plan. Even now I'm sitting here listening to Pokemon on the TV and Red Hot chilli peppers blasting in the kitchen. But I digress.

I did such a good job on the room upstairs that I had the urge to make things. Nothing like a clear desk to draw me in. So I made some of the more traditional cards up the top and these lovely coloured ones too. The photos aren't great, but it was too dark by the time I took the photos. I don't know what it is about making cards, but I love it. They are like mini pictures, and I love the textures of the different papers and embellishments.

Ella even got in on the act and made this stunning Thanksgiving card to give to her friend.

And I tidied up when I'd finished! Unusual for me, as I love to leave everything there ready to get stuck in another day. But I take Matt's point. He does need a room to escape to. More often than not he ends up going up to Oscar's attic room to crank the amp up. We can't hear him when he's up there, but it is Oscar's room with the standard 12 year old boy mess. We have been thinking about getting the attic properly insulated. I have to get someone in to give us a quote. It just seems ridiculous to have so much unuseable floor space. And it is SO COLD up there in the mornings. Unfortunately the landlord won't do it, so we may have to fork out for ourselves.

Anyway, we are about to have the fish for dinner that Matt and Remi caught today...not in our pond but out on the sound. They are very happy. It has been a long quest to catch this fish.

They're great and I love Ella's picture. Hope there's a market for hand made cards in Connecticut. Look at the comments from my friend Colleen on your painting.

  2. Mum, all the comments made here conme straight to my email. Unfortunately I can't reply to them from there though! And the cards will mostly likely be used by me anyway! Athough I have met a woman here (mum in Ella's class) who runs a gorgeous little gift shop in town...and there are no cards in the shop...
