High tides and GORGEOUS autumn days.

What a great long weeekend we are having. After very cold temperatures on Friday, the weather has turned simply divine. Yesterday we had a cracker high tide again. You can see that the water had reached the turning circle and the kids had lots of fun out there getting wet. Fortunately there was no wind or chop otherwise I'm sure it would have gone higher.

Remi, Kit and Ella planted tulips for a while (until Kit and Remi tried to kill each other and ended up in their rooms).

And I finally hung some pictures around the place. Amazing what a few things on the wall does to make a house feel like home. Unfortunately there are still walls which will have furniture, so I wasn't able to put everything up, but our "Japanese room" is starting to take shape.

Then today we drove out to Cold Springs on the East side of the Hudson. We went up to visit friends who have a weekend house there. He's an Aussie who we know from last time in NY (and I later found out had been an exchange student in Central America with a good friend of mine from Tassie-I LOVE how small the world really is) who's married to an American. The house is way up in the woods (I was convinced they wouldn't want us dropping by as it looked like a real retreat). It was great to catch up with them.

From there we went into Cold Springs proper where we caught up with our other friends and had a gorgeous outdoor lunch. Here's my GORGEOUS hubbby looking like a race car driver. He and the other Dad took the kids off for a walk in the woods while the mum and I went antique shopping in the lovely little town. She ended up buying 2 chests of drawers and me a little 1950's coffee table. What an awesome day!

And here's Ella, Oscar and Kit posing in front of an old "gas pump" in Cold Springs. I just loved the colour of them. I had intended to take photos of the leaves today, but I enjoyed the antique shopping oh so much more!

I'll take a photo of my little coffee table later...it's nothing that special, but just the right size for the space...and REAL wood...and cheaper than anything flat packed!

  1. They are super cool gas pumps. I would love me some of them for some photos!!! And I can't believe those high tides. Are there many houses closer to the water than yours? I wonder hat happens to them!
