Like a blister on my thumb!
Firstly this is the hat that goes with the scarf (another made up as I go along pattern) Ella loves it and used to wear it to bed in Sydney. This photo is taken in our old pantry...wish I had a pantry now!
Secondly, our plans to go into the city to the Met today went out the window as the kids left ALL their shoes out on the veranda yesterday and they were all drenched. (Actually Remi was the only one who didn't.) So we couldn't go anywhere.
It was good in a way as Oscar and Remi had heaps of homework this weekend. This made us realise that they needed desks. Matt and Remi did the IKEA run and came back with two desks, two chairs for desks, two bedside tables (for Kit and Ella who we are trying to sweeten up as we want them to share a room so we can have a craft/music/spare room; they're not sold on it yet), and a table and 4 chair set to eventually go in the kitchen. So I have spent most of this evening putting it all together. My right thumb is red and sore and swollen...it will be a ripper of a blister. But that's how things go in our house...interesting division of labour: Matt cooked the dinner while I put the furniture together. That's the way it's always been. Remi and Kit are really into helping as much as possible. We 3 are becoming experts in putting together flat packed furniture. I wish I could make real furniture and teach them those skills, but for now it is what we need, and what we can do.
Oww hurts to use the mouse!

Soon you will have somebody there for a couple of weeks to show you how to make a table, or perhaps a bowl, but perhaps not a ladder.
ReplyDeleteMind you save all that Ikea practise I hope to need a bit of practise at that.
But really cooking and furniture making really go together. Who chooses the wine? It should of course be the furniture making chef...
