So here I am, sitting in my lounge in Vermont, blogging. I really feel like having the iPad Is training myself for the future. It is such a new way of doing things. I am so glad that Oscar has spent so much time in the apple store playing with them as he is able to help me when I get stuck.
I am fascinated by where technology is going. I remember when I was a child, there was a show called Towards 2000, I think it's still running but is now called Beyond 2000. I remember once they were showing some future technology where you could put some kind of cassette tape into a machine and record what was on TV. I remember thinking how science fiction that sounded and that it would never happen in my lifetime. And now look at how far we have come! It seems ever few years there is a new leap forward in technology. Where will it take us in another 40-50 years....within my own life time????
ok, but you can't remember everybody gathering round the radio to listen to a programME, trying to tune into 2SM from the radio in their Geilston Bay bedroom after 9.00 pm to hear the latest Beatles, Rolling Stones etc songs, or learning jazz-- who was playing bass on that track, or tenor sax, between 10.00 and 12.00 on 7?? ZR?...or cricket on telly without ads , perhaps driving a car with three on the column gears...etc etc...so yeah lots of new stuff around but also lots of good stuff lost, .
ReplyDeleteBut perhaps old blokes have to think a bit like that to keep 'em sanish.
