My "sock warmer" is progressing. The last time I knitted a pair of socks was when I was 18. I had to re learn how to do a heel. I chose to do short rows rather than turning a heel flap because I like the look of it and I'm sure that's what I did over 20 years ago.
The top is done exactly the same way as my leg warmers- with some wool I dyed and spun. The bottom is once again a double strand of alpaca and fisherman's wool- it's all about the warmth and I didn't have enough of that colour to knit 2 whole socks. I get very cold feet these days and tend to wear 2 pairs of socks- even with my ugg boots. The hope is that only the hand spun stuff will be seen above the tops of my boots.
This is me trying them on (again) in my gym clothes. I'm torn between wanting to go to the gym and wanting to finish that sock! If only I could run and knit at the same time....And all that snow? Well I went up to the letter box today to try and dig it out. We haven't had mail delivered for a few days now. As the letter box is on a fairly busy road, all the snow that gets plowed off the road gets piled up in front of our driveway and letterbox. There is a mountain of snow out there. I was literally WAIST deep in the snow, floundering about, trying to dig out the letter box, trying to lower the wall of snow which makes it very scary trying to come out of our driveway as we can't really see what's coming. Needless to say, I wasn't able to do much. I came in with red raw hands and wet legs. Even Honey is struggling to get through the snow- her head is just above it and she gets stuck and almost looks like she's drowning. And more snow forecast for the next two days...
oh dear, we may have a falling out on our hands...socks are my enemy. Its that teeny tiny yarn on those teeny tiny needles...maybe I can forgive you as the yarn is held double, but even if its a DK weight its often just a bit too thin for me...shudder.
