Oooooh this week is a challenge. I just want to be up at the house WORKING. I can't wait until this weekend as it's a long weekend and there is so much to do.
Yesterday I bought a bunch of stuff to have a go at all that wallpaper in this room:
Before we left on Sunday, I had toned down the roses, stripping beds, turning over the duvets so that they were stripey instead of rosy, taking down curtains etc. But that rose wallpaper- I can't WAIT to get stuck in.The dining room is the room I did the most work in- removing all that floral fabric that was on 2 walls. It was also all over the windows in swags along with yards and yards and yards of yellow green and pink checked fabric. We also took down those gold tassels and fabric bows that were on two of the walls. Unfortunately I'm at a stand still with this room as there isn't proper plasterboard underneath- what is there will have to come off and be replaced- not sure if that's a job I feel competent tackling yet. But at least what is there is WHITE. But I think to begin with I'll stick with what I can do.
Like paint- I can't wait to have a go at this room. I've already taken down those shutters, removed all wreaths and chickens, toned down the cushions on the couch and ripped out the pink corner cabinet that you can't see in this photo.
And so I've been playing with colours...they didn't have all the testers I wanted at Home Depot and somehow I've ended up with mostly green tones, which isn't quite what I was going for. Although I really love that slate green with almost everything. The cappuccino white is a tin of paint I already have, so I think that will be used in the rose room post roses.
And then I realised that all these colours go so nicely with the cushion I made. I know- as if that house needs any more cushions. But this one was made from a jumper I knitted for Oscar when he was little- my sister in law, Chelsea, spun the brown wool on the spinning wheel I now have when they were living in the Falkland Islands, and I knitted it in Singapore. I couldn't bear to get rid of it, so I felted it and sewed it into this.
Can I suggest a room at a time, at least for the walls, getting rid of curtains etc ok, but for the painting, plastering etc perhaps not as much fun but works better in the long run, it worked at 01.
