But it was so lovely to then be in the house and know that it was OURS. Of course we both worked like maniacs all weekend; Matt spent hours cleaning the disgusting mess in the fridge and the stove, I ripped that horrendous fabric off the wall in the dining room, removed all the poofy hangy fabricy things from the windows- you've never seen so much fabric around windows- all held up with staples and hair elastics!- and de flowering and de cushioning beds. I now have a cupboard FULL of revolting curtains and fabric and more cushions than I've ever seen. Not sure what to do with them...Ella suggested we could have the mother of all pillow fights. Matt and I also ripped out the huge built in corner TV cabinet late last night and Kit broke it up for us this morning- he's happy to destroy anything. I have to say that it's looking nicer already. Can't wait to get back up next weekend and continue working on it. And hopefully I will remember my camera.

Our House
Can you believe it?! I forgot to take my camera away with me. So after leaving early in the morning and driving through TORRENTIAL rain with visibility of about 3 cars in front to get to VT on time for meeting with the realtor to go through the house, we get a call saying that the owner was still at the house and we wouldn't be able to get in until 1:30. We then sat in the car across the street from 1:30 watching her and her boyfriend load into their van a bunch of stuff that they weren't supposed to take. The closing signing was supposed to be at 3, and at 2:57 our realtor told them they had to leave before we could take possession. Needless to say we were late to the closing and a little annoyed. She was a piece of work that woman- not only delaying everything, but taking stuff she wasn't supposed to and then moving things around to make it look like she hadn't. She FILLED her U haul van. Fortunately the furniture stayed- even the hideously ugly armoir that her husband had specified that she had to fit it. Oh and all the useless bits of tat stayed- and anything broken or dirty. Of course they didn't have time to clean anything. Anyway, we decided to just go ahead and sign and start with a clean slate-if we'd quibbled it could have been months until we got into the house- especially since there had been much more rain and therefore more water damage from the leaky window. That's getting looked at this week. We are also changing the locks- later that afternoon we had a visit from the father in law asking if he could come in and see what she'd taken. Ah, NO!

Looking forward to the photos from next weekend - though it's a shame to not have photos of the owner lady moving out... Then the ex-father-in-law coming around. Classic photo opportunities. Don't any of you have cameras on your phones???
