Solstice

Today is the longest (or shortest) day of the year. I always wish that I'd remember to greet the dawn - but I don't.
We had a busy weekend- Matt and Oscar went to the Churchill Rugby cup in New Jersey, we had a leaving party for some Danish friends and we celebrated American father's day with paella- Matt had bought himself a paella stand thing that is like a gas cooker for a paella pan. We were all set up outside to eat and cook and then the heavens opened. It had been very hot and the kids just ran out and got all wet and muddy...

But it cleared up quickly- we moved the paella pan and stand to the veranda and by the time it had finished cooking we could sit out and eat. And it was delicious! Last day of school today- well half day. Remi has his "graduation" ceremony- goes for hours, there's no air conditioning and it's going to be 31C today. Hmmm...trying to work out what to wear. Then officially, but 1:30 today we'll be on summer holidays. YAY!

  1. Wow, that is so different to my solstice day - got up before the dawn - NOT HARD when the sun doesn't rise till 7am and then had to scrape the thick frost off the car to drive to work. Managed to leave work right on 5pm and had to put car lights on backing out the driveway!! Come on spring, I say!! I'm glad the shortest day is almost over. mum xxx
