Ballet concert time that is. Today. Kit and Ella are in the 2 pm performance, and then Ella again in the 5 pm performance. I've already watched their dances and martial arts performance a number of times this week as we've had 4 days of rehearsals. Yesterday I sat watching the dress rehearsal from 3:45 until 9:15 with a quick break to drop Kit home and pick Matt up. I'm really not used to sitting that long, but I have a bit of a sore throat and was feeling pretty yukky, so probably just as well.
Anyway, here's the photos from yesterday. I was right up the back and couldn't really be bothered moving up where I could use my flash, so I just put in the long lens. That meant that they're not great photos, but as this is mostly for family, it's enough to get an idea.
First Kit- no lifting girls this year.
Then Ella- she hates this ballet costume, but they look really cute on stage. She has improved SO much this year with her dance.
And her modern Jazz dance- she really likes this dance. Kind of a cirque du soleil kind of thing. I'm face painting the girls for the performance today. That means I'm not watching, but will be helping out the back (fine with me!). Ella is the blonde one in the middle (Emma, the little blonde one looks a lot like her in these blurred photos)
I forgot to take photos of their martial arts performance, but it's the same really as last year- Kit and Ella are just better and know a few more patterns.
They're great. Kit and Ella look so self-assured and confident. Break a leg for the performance.

do you have to make all those costumes... they look so fancy ... the disipline and routine of ballet is so good for them... go guys go!!!!
ReplyDeleteGoodness Annette, no we DON'T make them- we pay a $45 costume fee per costume. It all adds up. Must be horrendous for the girls who are in 8 or so dances. And then we end up with a cupboard full of costumes that they never wear again. A bit silly.

ReplyDeleteNo dad, I've got a bit sick of taking photos of the gradings- besides, last time, Ella graded on her own as Kit was sick and then I missed Kit's grading.

ReplyDeleteYes! Save those costumes! My kindy children have been wearing all my dance costumes, going out clothes from my childhhod and carrying around our family's old purses and handbags for years! LOVE dancing - you guys look just beautiful! Wendy xx
