This week I've been making up for the Dr. Who debacle of Saturday night and hiding away during the day watching Dr. Who dvds and crocheting. It's an obsession, yes, but I needed a break.
Since we got back from our lovely trip I've been so busy with school stuff, historical society stuff, and just stuff in general (not to mention all the housework stuff) that I was feeling a bit frantic. On mother's day the weather turned yukky (we've been having gorgeous summer weather) and so I hunkered in for some Dr. Who watching with my fellow Dr. Who fans (we have competitions to see who's the biggest fan in our house). That kind of started a trend for the week (I also had to wait around for the Satellite man to fix our TV reception).
And WHILE I was doing all that, I was crocheting this:
I offered to test a pattern for the lovely Alicia. She gave me this one in size 2. I was just using up scraps of wool that I had (alpaca merino blend) and this is how it turned out. Actually, I made it with a longer skirt to begin with (like the pattern said) and then sent her all the measurements, then changed it and made it shorter- I like it better like this. This one is going to my youngest niece. I really love the pattern and want to make a top like it for Ella (and me). So I've been playing around with it. I've also started, and pulled apart, a few things too.
And the good news is that we CAN watch TV now. [ We really don't watch that much- BBC news, Top Gear, maybe a few science shows. Oscar and I LOVE watching shows about the universe at the moment- we love that moment when they say something about how big it actually is and you really feel like your mind has been BLOWN! For example, did you know that if the Milky Way galaxy was scaled down to be the size of the continental USA, then our SUN would be the size of the dot above the letter "i" on a page. And there are BILLIONS of galaxies. See, mind BLOWN.] I think we may have to have a little Doctor party for Saturday night so we can watch both last week's episode (thank goodness they repeat it) and this weeks. Yes, I KNOW it's an obsession.
And speaking of good news, Kit got his cast off yesterday. I took photos of the xrays with my phone yesterday, but I can't upload them- the bone is still so bent, but it's healed a lot and it will straighten out more as it heals and he uses it. I know this as it's what happened with his arm last time and you can't really see that break on the xrays anymore.
We have another big weekend ahead with sport- Remi has 2 soccer games and Oscar has his last rugby match at home. And Monday I have more school stuff. SIGH. I wish the Doctor would come and take me away in his TARDIS sometimes....
TV is for watching cricket as well as shows about art, of course, and you should have known that stuff about the Milky Way, we are still out there, but I suppose since you retired as one of us you have forgotten all that stuff needed for being men or women from Mars.
ReplyDeleteDr Who?...that is not short for Dr Hoover is it? Now that is a passion worthy of a daughter of Mars
Love the little dress! mum xx
ReplyDeleteYOu would be the biggest fan in the house Id say!!!
ReplyDeleteRosie was most excited when I showed her pictures of the dress! She said "is that mine???"....!! Thanks Aunty George xox
Rosie will look so cute in that Georgia...you are a great Auntie.... i love that neklace.... but isnt it strange taht i can appreciate such amazing beauty on a young neck ...when the neck is starting to get wrinkled and like a turkey's neck...such gorgeous creations do not have the canvas they need to be appreciated.... perhaps a skivy or a roll neck with this winter weather would hide natures degenerative handywork and do such creative beauty justice????
