I've hit the ground running this week. At the beginning of the school year I decided I wanted to scale back on how much volunteering I was doing in the schools. I wanted to have a bit more time to concentrate on my art and other things (like getting to the gym every day). Don't get me wrong- I love helping out. But I really find all the ALPHA females involved in organizing these things a bit much.
But early on in the year I must have decided that I'd put my name down for everything LATER in the year and that's come back to haunt me a bit. On Monday I did a water conservation thing for Ella's class, the rest of this week I'm doing spinning demonstrations at the historical society and the next few weeks after that I'm helping with the art appreciation program in 4th and 5th grade. Add to that my regular stints at the front desks of the middle and high school and I feel busy- for me.
Today I had to card some wool in preparation for my spinning. And yes, I fixed that bit that had flipped up- at the time I was watching some Dr. Who reruns, so I missed it.
In between all the rain we've had I managed to get those rugby jerseys out on the line to dry. I still have to repair some tears in 2 of them.AND I have managed a couple of little paintings. It feels so long since I've painted and I was so desperate to paint this little guy that I took a photo of in Cayman. I bought a fantastic book of the birds of all of North America and I was able to work out what kind of bird he was.
And the kids all love the book too- Kit asked me to paint an American Kestrel for him today.
Neither are my greatest work, but it feels so nice to be doing some painting again- probably because there are other things that need to be done!
Her Dad's daughter...or perhaps he is his daughter's Dad.
