Where were you 20 years ago today?

I just saw something on the morning BBC news about how today (November 9th) marks 20 years since the Berlin wall was torn down. Can you remember where you were? I can. I was an exchange student in Norway and we had the opportunity to go with those of our organisation in Sweden on a trip to Leningrad. I will never forget sitting in our hotel room trying to watch the news on Russian TV watching images of the wall being torn down, seeing old footage of JF Kennedy and being totally GOBSMACKED that Russian TV was showing this stuff. We didn't really know what had happened until we got back to Finland the following day and could read the Swedish newspapers there. When we got back to school, there was a group of students who'd been on a trip to Germany and who'd been there...all of them had little chunks of the wall. What I can't fathom is that that was 20 years ago!!!!

  1. Thanks for that, we were trying to remember where you were, I knew you weren't in Berlin but we knew you were somewhere special...and the "20 years ago thing" was also in our discussions.

  2. I remembered Georgia and also that you told me you were dancing with Russian soldiers in Lenigrad, am I correct? And I thought exactly that - "was it really 20 years ago that Georgia was in Norway?!!"
