New things

Ok, well we all know I have serious skills when making costumes...you remember Ronald Reagan?
Well yesterday we had a get together with the other cubscouts to make starwars costumes for their up coming camp. One of the mums provided the felt and foam etc and we had to provide our creative genius (ah hem) and cutting skills.
Can you guess what Kit is?????
If you guessed Ewok, you would be correct. Poor kid is going to die from heat exhaustion wearing that! But the women there, apparently were impressed with my creativity (insanity) and I also made a Yoda mask and supervised the cutting out of numerous felt capes.

But I must have been feeling inspired because despite the heat, we did iron ons today. Lots and lots. Oscar, Remi and Kit and I all got "new" t-shirts-Ella got 4 new t-shirts and after a disasterous attempt on another t-shirt for Oscar, 2 new skirts (the first one was so much fun, I had to do another). The iron ons were totally different to other ones I've used...they transfered the ink onto the fabric without any sticky or plasticy residue. Took a while to get used to-they blurred easily if they moved. And they never came off looking solid-they look really kind of old and washed out, which I like actually. I have no idea how they'll wash though.

The skirts were inspired from this post on Emily's blog. I didn't really look at her post again, just winged it from what I could remember. The mistake I made was not measuring her waist to begin with and just eyeballing it...Very fun to make...I may do more of these...shame Ella doesn't like wearing skirts very often though.

Don't forget about the give away. Even if you've never left a comment before, now is the time!
