The alarm went off and I scrambled downstairs to the computer (with Remi hot on my heals) to check my emails through blurry eyes. And I got what I wanted...the all schools closed notification for a snow day. So lovely to snuggle back into bed for some extra sleep.
About an hour later I was woken by Matt yelling something from down stairs. Pulling my self out from my snoozy slumber I came down stairs (hastily throwing on my uggies thank goodness) to the downstairs bathroom flooding with a burst pipe (same thing happened last year). The pipe bursts because the pipe freezes because the landlord will not spend any money fixing up this house. His way of "fixing" the freezing bathroom is just to cram more insulation under the room. There is no heat in that room at all. Anyway, Matt and I spent an hour downstairs in the basement from hell trying to work out where to turn off the water. We were turning things off everywhere and still the water gushed. Eventually we had to turn it off at the mains. So now we have no water.
We have a plumber "on the way", but did I mention the snow...5 or so inches of it already and no plowed driveway.
Not the lovely relaxing snow day I was looking forward to.
And I have realised this winter that I am OVER this house. I love this house, but I am over living in it with a landlord who wont spend any money on it to upkeep it. So Mum, when you come in October we may be living somewhere else.
Hi George, I fully understand your frustrations with the house and will be happy in October to stay anywhere that you guys end up in. Mum xx
