It doesn't really look like it has, but I was out there (in the glorious sunshine) today throwing large rocks onto it to see if I could get it to break. It just wouldn't.
So I asked Kit to come out with me and have a go. He had other ideas after his ice fishing escapade, and got a big long stick and tentatively started out onto the ice. 
He used his stick to bash the ice to make sure it was solid enough to stand on...this bit wasn't.
Then Remi came out to have some fun. I was amazed they were able to walk on it as it was slick, but they kind of skated along feeling the ice. Honey had a tennis ball out there that they would hit and it would go and go and she would trot along after it. She realised pretty quickly that if she tried to run she slid everywhere.
The boys made it all the way over to the other side of the pond. The water is never deep here at low tide, but I don't think I've ever seen it frozen all the way over like that.
When Oscar came home from swimming he went out there as well (Ella was at a friend's) and we made the boys put on their "yak tracks" so they wouldn't slip on the ice. But slipping is still more fun, so they took one of the sleds out there and turned Honey into a sled dog.
But even though the sun was shining and the glare of the ice made you feel like you were going to get sunburned, it was still REALLY cold.
Honey looks like Bambi in some of those photos. My heart's in my mouth just looking at Kit, Rem and Honey's progress over the ice. Then I remember my dream of skating on a lake in Austria or Canada - must be getting old.

oh wow, at first when you look it doesnt look iced over. I would have been scared to go out. kids are brave!!! Has the cold weather been fun or are you getting ready for spring?! Summer has been so mild here with the odd hot day. You know how much I love jeans so Im liking it!!!!
