For those of you who wonder what ice fishing looks like

Besides cold, of course. Matt said it took a little getting used to being able to walk on the ice and being able to trust it, even though there were other people out there. The kids caught some little fish, pike, but only a few that were big enough, and not enough to bring home to us (Matt's friends took them). Kit came home very cold as he'd forgotten to take his snow pants and he was out in the wind and snow all day. It took them forever to get home as the roads were all snowy.

Unfortunately all that nice snow is no good today as it rained at the end of the storm (that's what I hate about living near the coast) and there's a layer of ice on everything. Not sure if we can even get into the car at this stage. Crunchy snow just isn't the same. The sun is out though, so there's a lovely bright glow to the day.

Happy new year to all of you!

Wow!! That's amazing! Once in a lifetime experience, or are they keen to repeat it? I think I'd be wary of trusting walking on the ice too - I've seen too many movies! mum xx

Betty and I have just returned to the office from doing a bit of promotional work - 41 degrees Celcius outside - so we ogled the ice-fishing for a while to cool down. Just what we needed.
