Christmas corners of my home

Christmas is a favourite time of year in this house. We love the tradition associated with it (I wanted to downsize the kids' stockings this year from super toysized to more age appropriate ones and there was an outcry!). We love all the craftiness associated with it-making decorations, making presents, and our favouritel; cutting out snowflakes (which we will probably do this weekend).
But the hardest thing about living overseas is not sharing Christmas with extended family and old friends.
So here is a peek into my home, imagine that you are coming for a visit and may it put a little Christmas joy into your hearts...

The front door step with our winter snowmen...

The entry (afternoon sun made the photos dark sorry). Christmas tree went up on the 2nd and came down again courtesy of the cats or dog on the 3rd and then went back up again minus a few ornaments.
We love getting out the Christmas ornaments. It's like saying hello to old friends. I have always thought that I don't collect things, but then the other night I realised that I do. Every year the Metropolitan Museum of art puts out a new silver snow flake ornament and I have collected them since 2000. I am only missing 2004 (the year we moved back to Australia).
Even our normal house decorations get decorated...Confusious say....My ribbons waiting for the cards that you all will send me (I only realised after I took this photo that they are not straight.)

The advent calendar that I made in 2001. It has pockets and each night the kids get a chocolate each. I actually think it is really naff now and would love to update it, but the kids still love it and I guess that's what counts.
The beginning of Ella's snow globe collection. She loves them. Her first two that I bought her (super cheapies) she broke. Now she is so careful with them. The big wind up one I bought for me, but since she has decided that she wants to collect them, I'll let her have them.

So there you have it. Hope you enjoyed the little tour. Now all we need is for the weather to plummet (it's been so mild) and for snow to come...and if it doesn't then we'll have to make do with paper snow flakes...

Thank you, George. I have been thinking about Christmas... now perhaps I'll look for the decorations.

Some people can't see the calendar on the Xmas card ribbons anywhere near clearly enough, methinks it deserves at least one picture to itself, I only know it is there because that other anonymous, pointed it out...just imagine all those other people out there who would be just hanging out for an important calendar if they saw it properly on Snork's blog.

The house looks great. I wish we could catch up with you all for Christmas. I can't believe that it was two years ago we were at your house. We might have snow here for Christmas the way the weather is going.

It all looks so lovely. I especially like the snowmen on the porch - did you make them and are they papier mache? Great idea.

I think your homemade advent calendar is really nice - not surprised the childrne won't let you change it.

BTW thanks for your gorgeous card (much admired by my friends who came for coffee on Friday morning). Must get mine done this weekend!
