Last week (before Remi's stitches-which of course haven't healed well) Ella had her flag waving share.
It's not actually called a spring share, but they all had to wear red white and blue and all the songs were American Patriotic.
That got me wondering what an Australian Patriotic share would feature...well, the national anthem and then Waltzing Matilda, but after that....hmmm...
Ella had been so worried about it all the night before..."what shall I wear?", "these shoes are too high and we're in height order", "what if I forget the words"...that she yawned and frowned and fiddled with her skirt most of the way through. But she got through it and she said she enjoyed it.
This week I had school field days to go and watch, I taught finger knitting to Ella's class two afternoons and spent at nearly 15 hours giving the house a good clean (most of it picking up Honey hair-she is such a sheddy dog). That's when I wasn't driving around...2 hours of driving through stop-start traffic yesterday to get Remi's stitches out-and our airconditioning in the car is broken and we're waiting on the part. It's been a BUSY week. I did manage to knit a cute little cotton skirt for Ella in the there somewhere...I'll have to take a photo of it when she wears it next.
Today we are celebrating Oscar's 14th birthday ( a few days early) with a BBQ of course. The weather has obliged and it's 31 C-the first day over 30 for the year. (The next week is set to be all in the 30s, so I hope the airconditioner gets fixed soon.)
Next week will be just as busy with extra ballet rehersals, trips to the beach for the kids for school etc. I might not be back anytime soon.
Hope you have a good week!
Eagle Rock! Howzat! and the Tasmanian National Anthem, of course. Some serious Paul Kelly and Chisel learning would also be necessary.
ReplyDeleteWould be a great day.
Has Oscar got his own email address?
GOD needs to know
ohhh I know how much you love those patriotic American things! It's interesting how we are all patriotic in different ways. Arrrrggg, cant believe Osc is 14!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the meaning of 'share' - is it literal? Just wondering whether it has any other significance? I reckon Beds are Burning, Land Downunder or whatever it's called and I love From Big Things Little Things Grow, also adore the lyrics and passion of Solid Rock (one of my favourites). More social& political commernt in these eh! You've had such a busy time. I'll ring Oscar for his birthday. love mum
