Wow! Where did that week go? I spent the week happily lost in 3 books...can't remember the last time I spent most of a day just reading. The books: The Boar Stone (love this series-reminiscent of The Mists of Avalon; a favourite of mine), Through a Glass Darkly (a rather lusty read, but totally engrossing like a movie) and The Forgery of Venus (finished this a few weeks ago, but loved it and have to recommend it-a more intellectual read which really gets into the concepts of what art is-far too complicated to even try and describe it) Of course we went out and did some things...trips to the chiropractor for my back (which is mostly better) and out to do some things with the kids. But I have found that they are getting used to being with each other so much again and there has been LOTS of arguing and fighting (another reason why I've been happy to escape into books). I have told them, though, that I will not tolerate it and there have been a few occasions this week where we have turned around and gone home instead of doing things because they have been fighting.
It is getting better though and they are starting to get into the groove of just being again, rather than doing doing doing. Remi, Kit and Ella are remembering how to sit and play, how to make up games together, how to go outside and just play. Oscar is another matter and mopes. It's hard for him, because all his friends are away-it's a bit like a ghost town around here this time of year. Ella and Kit started their summer gymnastics last week and there are only 2 girls in Ella's class and 3 boys in Kit's. Yesterday we finally got Oscar his birthday present-a fancy mobile phone. He has been so desperate to get one. It comes with unlimited texting, and yet he has no one to text as all his friends are away.
And Ella finally wore her skirt yesterday-the one I knitted.
It's cotton, and the stitch is a butterfly stitch-the pattern is for a woman's skirt here
I was kind of winging it with the size (swatch? What's that?). And being impatient me, I was keen to get it off the needles to see how it looked....
And so with Ella's long legs (we call her Bellie, Bellie long legs), it is a little on the short side. Never mind, she still likes it, and to be honest, most things that fit her around the waist tend to be that short on her.
This week I plan to get up into that attic room which is now my craft room ( it is just sooo hot up there) and sort and tidy and get organised and crafty with the kids. Thinking some tie dying would be fun and even Oscar might get into that.
Sounds WONDERFUL! and I wish I could come over and join you. mum xx
