Bah Humbug

I've been absent a bit from the blog this week. I don't know why, just really felt like I had nothing to say.

We had a lovely time going out to dinner for Ella's birthday and then home to the mother of all cakes which was the only non Christmas decorated cake I could find. Yes I bought a cake this year. I had cooked the muffins for a little party at school, and that was enough effort with everything else going on.

I make such an effort every year to pull out of the head first Christmas dive so Ella can celebrate her birthday as normal people not born a week before or after Christmas do, that I kind of lose momentum afterwards. Every year this happens and I feel almost over Christmas after Ella's birthday. So even though this week I made little heart ornaments for the teachers (out of felt), my own heart wasn't really in it.

Then on Friday, I found, frozen and wet, a card taped to our recycling bin from "you Wednesday garbage man". And inside a message " Ore the best wishes of Juan". That really picked up my Christmas spirit for a while until I had the thought that he was probably angling for a tip!

But the kids finished school for 11 days yesterday and they are buzzed about Christmas so hopefully some of it will rub off on me. Kit was actually sick from school yesterday so I wanted to go in and get his 2 jackets that I knew he'd left at school before everything got locked up. When we got there we found 10!!!!!!!! items of Kit's clothing. No wonder he never has any warm stuff to wear. 2 hats, 3 jumpers, and 5 jackets!!! Unbelievable.

Anyway, enough Bah Humbugging (Oscar and I watched Blackadder's Christmas carol last night), time to get on and sing some carols and and raise the Christmas cheer.
