The weather had turned all autumny and Saturday afternoon Matt, Oscar, Remi and I went off to watch a good game of rugby played between NYAC and Oxford University. The lovely Aussie guy who did the coaching session with the boys recently plays for NYAC (NY athletic club), that's how we knew about it. It was lots of fun...I much prefer watching it from the sidelines than on TV. And I thought I'd have to have a practice go at it before our big Ireland V France game in Paris on Friday night!
Saturday night we had a lovely silly family night...with gymnastics...
On Sunday I took mum and the kids into the city (while Matt stayed home and watched more Rugby). We ended up doing all the things the kids love to do like...the world's biggest toy store; ToysRus in Times Square (it was chaos outside as there was a concert in the middle of Times Square "The best of Broadway") where Nanny was generous...
And American Girl place where Ella's Lucy came from. I was dying to show this to Mum as it is such an amazing place. But she told me she never liked dolls growing up...and Oscar did a fair amount of sulking while we were there.
We all loved the doll hair salon though where the girls can take their dolls in for a do.
We also went to the Met store and just soaked up the atmosphere. I didn't want to be home too late on a Sunday though, so it was really a quick visit. But I LOVE it every time.
Here we are taking silly photos on the train on the way back.
And when we got home we had the most beautiful autumnal afternoon. I was out planting more bulbs when we decided that we should harvest the apples on the tree. This tree didn't have any apples last year, but this year there are lots and they are gorgeous crispy golden delicious.
Kit was even able to help...and Honey ate the ones with blemishes.
It was harder to get the ones up the top...Ella stood on my shoulders and Remi just climbed.
Then we all sat around in the lovely evening light munching on some.
While Ella did a little dance...and Honey ran off and had to be carried back (that dog won't come!)
It was so lovely that Nanny decided to take Ella out for a paddle in the Canoes...
Oh we are so lucky to be able to live where we do.
What a lovely afternoon we had and I really enjoyed the trip to the city, and the apple picking and kayaking in the late afternoon Autumn glow.
