fish

Well it was a good long weekend, although I was really exhausted by last night. Lots of running around doing errands (getting more stuff for the kids for school), and LOTS of fishing.

The kids and Matt caught a few on Saturday and Matt fried them up for pre dinner on Saturday night. I refused to have any as I'm not a huge fish anyway and this was a bit like serving garbage up on a plate for me, as I know how dirty that water is.

Sunday, with another killer tide, Matt went out and got new fishing equipment...a rod for Ella as well and they spent most of the day out there, while I had to take Oscar and his friends to a movie.

When I got home they had 27...and Matt was pulling them in really quickly. I even had a go and caught 2. And Kit caught one, broken arm and all.

That night for dinner...you guess it; Fish! And as there was nothing else I tried some. It wasn't bad at all, but I'm never going to be a big fish eater.

Here they are in the bucket and then the sink...there were 43 in all...one flipped back in and Honey ate 2, so 40 were cleaned up and cooked by Matt

And a very tired Remi...

Yesterday the tide was low again and even though we had about 30 people at the end of our garden fishing, they only caught 3 fish and some crabs. Matt had gone off to the US open for a work thing (even though it was a public holiday!) and I sanded the top of the dining room table and cleaned like my mother was coming to visit (which she is; on Friday).

Wow did they catch all those fish from your garden? Lucky things and they looked delicious too.

Sorry I haven't been in touch but it's so hard landing back after such a wonderful summer. Also sorry to hear about poor Kit's accident. Can't believe your children have gone back to school already - we have until Monday thank goodness.

By the way don't forget to show the world that gorgeous blanket hiding in the attic will you. I wish I could pop in and have you show me how to do it properly. I just don't understand the instructions for ending row 1 which is what made me start row 2 in the wrong place. I know it must be VERY easy!
