What a day.

I was woken up this morning at 6am by Matt. "Psst", he said. "Look what I've found." And through my blurry morning eyes I could see that he was holding Winter the hamster. Alive!!! He'd found her in the basement where she'd obviously been living on insects for goodness knows how long. We were all so happy.
But that left a dilemma of what to do with Cardamom...hamsters can't live in the same cage. So after talking to Oscar he decided that he'd like her and changed her name to Jimmy Jazz. So off we went to the pet store to get a new hamster cage.
And on the way back we passed a puppy adoption site...where they'd brought out puppies to be adopted on that day. Now, Matt and I had been talking about getting a dog when we were up in Vermont, and we both agreed that this time of year was the best time to do it, while the kids were off school. But I was still surprised when Matt drove the car into the carpark to have a look. Kit has been dying for a dog for so long. All the books he reads are about dogs. So we looked. There was a gorgeous little border collie cross with a white face and a black eye patch who I fell in love with, but Kit has a thing about dogs with the same coloured hair as him and he fell for these two sheltie/spaniel crosses...a brother and a sister. So he hopped in the cage to play with them and just fell in love with the little girl. So Remi and Ella went in to and this little girl just stole their hearts. And she's really the right sized dog for the kids. So we adopted her. We still had to buy her, and they came down and checked out our yard to see that it was suitable, but we now have a gorgeous little puppy called Honey:
Isn't she just a honey? So there was another trip back to the pet store to get all the things you need for a puppy. And then we just played and played with her outside in our fenced area. She's sound asleep now.
And there are two hamster cages sitting on the coffee table.
What a day!

At last something really important has happened in Conneticut.
A cousin, or perhaps a grand child for Dr Siss and Rosie.
    congratulations
But I suspect there won't be any permanent moves back to the great south land for ten or so years now.
    love
    Dad
