Weston

While our hosts went off to pick up their new car, we explored a little town nearby. The kids went towards the sound of water and we found this old mill. It was open as a museum, and was stuffed full of old tools. But the best bit was that there was an old guy there who showed us around. He had so much knowledge and was so happy to answer questions and teach the kids things. He turned on the (now electronic) mill stone so the kids could see how they ground corn into corn meal, and he took us up stairs and showed us all kinds of old tools. The kids got to have a go with plainers making wheel spokes and try some other old tools. We were there for an hour or more and we had to drag the kids away. It was great. VT reminds me a lot of Tasmania...people really have time for you, time to stop and chat. There's arts and crafts and home grown/made everything everywhere.

Oh and it's beautiful...

This has been such a wonderful educational time for the children. Aren't you fortunate to have all these travels -
    Vermont sounds gorgeous.
