I spent last week (after my mammoth post on Tuesday) recovering from my trip and then going on an absolute housework blitz. Wiping down walls, cupboards, dusting everything, washing tidying and of course I hardly got anywhere...anyway, that explains my absence.
It was also stinking hot last week with nearly everyday around 30 degrees C. Big change today with it cold and rainy, so I gave myself the day off. I parked myself on the couch in my lovely new Norwegian felted slippers (I've wanted a pair since I was 18) and knitted a handle to felt to add to my felted patchwork bag that I'm making (on the coffee table there). I watched a couple of movies I'd recorded and generally had a lovely day. I'll show how the handles turned out tomorrow.
Then to top off a very indulgent day I got to paint a map of Alagaesia for a book report Remi's doing on Eldest, the second book in the Eragon series. He has to create a game as a book report and asked me to paint the game board for him. He kept thanking me so much, but what he doesn't realise is that I love doing things like that-any excuse. So here it is and it looks pretty good (actually looks better in the photo than in reality)...he's going to add the path tomorrow and instructions etc. He's done all the thinking bits (with some collaboration with Oscar) and I've just done the artistic bit. Kit was really excited about it and is looking forward to playing it when Remi gets it back.
And I'm not the only one being self indulgent...here's Matt with his new toy...
He's been getting alot of pain in his forarms and finds it hard to play guitar. He used to play trombone in highschool, so this cheap one fit the bill. It's really encouraged the boys to get out their instruments, and Kit is dead keen to learn the trombone now too...he LOVES it. And looks so funny playing it.
Good to have you back on air, after checking SMH and ABC Verbosity is the next port of call. So Just like the SMH has new stuff every day...so should Verbosity.
ReplyDelete30 degrees Celcius isn't too bad, possibly a bit cool but not too bad, actually it has been down to 4 at night here at the junction, oh well in a couple of/few months back into the 40's again.
And anyway the important stuff please. What about Stanley?
And I am a bit concerned about Matt...really, a second hand trombone...aren't they selling new ones in the shops any more, or is it an antique which used to belong to a famous trombonist and sorry I can't think of the name of any famous trombonists just at the moment...perhaps a Johnston suddenly sprung to mind...
love Dad
who want's to know the rules to Remi's game...is it going to be published?
coolio... you are so clever. Love the bag, slippers and map. cant wait to have all kids in school and not have to work so I can have days like that....
