My stack is growing. I hadn't done much since the mammoth blocking effort, but I've got back into it the last few days. I put the blocked squares on the bed yesterday and measured them out. It's going to take 56 before I crochet around them to make it bigger. So far I've done 37, so not quite on the home stretch yet. Still enjoying it-fortunately!!!
(And these photos were taken with my little digicamera as I somehow put my back out yesterday and couldn't face going up the stairs to get the new camera.)
I did, however, cook some buns today...hot crossed buns...well, kind of. They were buns (recipe off the internet) which had raisins instead of currants and lemon icing (MY FAVOURITE!!!) instead of flour crosses. They're not too bad. But I have never successfully cooked hot crossed buns. They're never so light and fluffy as those supermarket bought ones. These were probably the best so far, and I don't know how long they'll last, so I may get to have another practise later in the week...If not, they'd make nice breakfast buns.
I usually cook breakfast for all of us on the weekend...pancakes or French toast. Last week I made 2 banana cakes with some black bananas that had been sitting in the freezer for ages and I remembered going to a cafe in Sydney where they served lightly toasted slices of banana cake served with a big dollop of plain yoghurt and a little dollop of honey as a breakfast dish. YUMMO! Then I tried a banana and coconut bread in the bread maker...but needs some tweaking. Nice, but not as soft and yummy as the banana cake. I'm sure it could get there. Once again I served it with yoghurt and honey, although the kids preferred either maple syrup or cream cheese. So now I keep thinking of other things to have for weekend breakfast...especially things I can put on at night in the breadmaker...nothing nicer than waking to those aromas.
yummo for the toasted banana cake and yoghurt,.... bring that with ya on the weekend!!!! and your littel digital camera does it very nicely too!!!
