Ella had her 1st grade share yesterday. Essentially a Christmas concert for all the 1st grade classes with lots and lots of songs. Kit missed out on seeing Remi's concert, so he was really pleased to be able to watch Ella.

For weeks I have been hearing snippets of the songs she was going to sing and I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately she does not own any red or green clothes, so she's the pink and purple one at the front who stands out like a sore thumb!

Matt and I got there nice and early and I'd brought her a different pair of shoes so I was going to take them to her classroom, but on the way I found her walking up the hall looking miserable. She'd told her teacher she had a tummy ache and so she'd been sent to the nurses office. But she was upset because she didn't want to miss the concert.

I thought it was just nerves so I took her back to the classroom. By that time she'd been crying and I promised to take her home after the concert if her tummy still hurt.

She looked so miserable for the whole concert (click on the photos and they'll enlarge for you and you can see her face). Her heart just wasn't in it, and all the fun songs she'd belted out at home didn't even make her smile. Her actions were all half a second behind everyone else and towards the end she started wiping away her tears. Well that had me bawling up the back (all I wanted to do was rush up on stage and rescue her). But the songs kept going on and on and on. And then they kept them up there while the other classes filed out, so that the parents could take photos. At that point I did go up and rescue her and at that point she told me that she needed to go to the toilet. So I think the nerves had brought that on, but had then spent the whole concert worried she was going to poo in her pants. Poor love.

But here's them singing Jingle bells which is pretty cute. (I hope-trying something new by putting this video on here-hope it works.)

And she was adament after that that she wanted to come home with us, even though they were having a Xmas party in the classroom. She was fine after that of course and spent all day playing with her cousins who are staying with us right now. And she's gone back to school today (in her Pyjamas for Pyjama day!).

video works! Froze a couple of times and it's still playing while I write this. Very cute and they sound good! Maybe not having the right outfit put her off, although it doesn't stand out all that much, because of all the patterns! Nice pic of long-haired Kit.
