"Oh the cleverness of me!"

I have really enjoyed the knitting with the Icelantic wool. It is very thick though and I am knitting on the smallest possible kneedles. So I thought I'd be clever. I borrowed some needles from next door and knitted a mitten bigger (and on round needles which was so much easier). "This wool will felt so well" I told myself. Even though I only went from a 3 1/2 to a 5 sized needle, the mitten was ENORMOUS! Kind of reminded me of that kid's story where all the animals try to find a home in the same mitten. Well, after washing it in HOT water and scrubbing it to felt it and drying it in my (brand new) dryer, it came out slightly felted and slightly smaller. I couldn't believe it! So now I'll have to give away the nice grey and charcol ones to someone else and keep the very large blue and pink ones. See if you can see any difference in the before and after shots:
