Fun with Grandma
We have our first house guest! Grandma arrived yesterday afternoon and made it all the way up to CT on public transport from JFK. Poor Grandma. She was pretty tired when she got here but managed to stay awake for a while longer. Ella is most pleased to have Grandma sleeping in her bedroom and I could hear her reading a story to Grandma until she fell asleep...Ella was asleep not long after.
Today has been a very lazy day with a slow morning, but after lunch we went out to play on the improvised swing (a rope was hanging from a tree with a loop in the end, so I put a short log through the loop). It's quite high so we have to lift the kids on to it, but it's fun. The rope is even strong enough to hold me! I took photos of the kids soaring amongst the leafy greeness until my camera batteries ran out. But not before I got photographic evidence of Grandma on the swing...which ended in her kicking Kit in the head and gradually slipping off to the ground. Somehow I managed to keep taking photos through the laughter. Grandma was laughing too through the rope burn. What fun for Grandma to be a kid again with the kids. They are now under the willow tree making willow crowns and "hats"...Kit wanted to make a full outfit of clothes. They were up in the tree, but all the trees are so old around here that the branches are too high for the kids to ge into on their own...so it's not safe to leave them up there. I wish I had more batteries!!!!
And finally yesterday we had TV connected. We chose satellite because I have to have BBC America and Matt had to have Sentanta (a sports channel which has English football and rugby and what not). The technicians spent 4 hours here setting it up. I'd asked for the dish not to be put on the front of the house as I didn't want to spoil the look of it (for people who see it from across the water). They tried 3 positions to the side but couldn't get the signal and I think by that time they just didn't care...so it ended up infront of the only window downstairs that has a view! I didn't realise this until after they'd gone. But I had to share it with you. And to justify why we had to have it in the first place!

Setanta rocks. Live rugby and Aussie rules in the US is worth losing a touch of view for - one can always sit on the balcony anyway.
ReplyDeleteAnd remember from now on when you watch Aussie Rules look out for Freo, not only because they could turn out to be the Premiers if they continue to play like they did for the last two weeks but also because GOD barracks for them
